Defi-Link VSD X displays speed and/or rev on “Target Screen”, a special reflective display board installed on the display unit.
Defi-Link VSD X is a multifunction system developed based on Defi-Link Display VSD CONCEPT (discontinued), and this is a evolutionary version of Defi original VSD formula, which is excellent over-dashboard accessory. It can be used alone or can be linked to Defi-Link system to use as a multimeter Defi-Link Display
Stand alone, the product displays vehicle speed and rev. By linking to Defi-Link System with the Defi DAISY CHAIN wiring system, various types of display, such as temperature and/or pressure is made possible.
Features
Superior display with enhanced visual quality by the use of Defi’s unique new VSD formula
By projecting virtual image, it enables users to reduce visual travel distance, allowing faster visual recognition.
The conventional VSD project virtual image onto the windshield, however, the new VSD X utilizes a special “Target Screen” instead. The angle between the indicator and screen is controlled, allowing optimal visual output, whereas (with VSD) the angle/form of windshield of each vehicle was one of the factors to determine visual quality. Moreover, a step to place a display film which was required for the previous versions.
“Target Screen” is a special accessory for VSD X display unit, and it cannot be used with the previous versions of VSD. Due to the difference in image-projection angle, the screen display will be distorted even if it is physically installed with the previous versions.
Robust and Semi-transparent Target Screen
Semi-transparent screen allows a full field of vision. Material used is Polycarbonate, which is often used for SWAT shields for its robustness. By applying eleven layers of special coating from both sides, the visual quality is enhanced, preventing visual distortion.
Built-in Automatic Photochromic Control
By installing DIM sensor attachment, the brightness of display is controlled to 256 different levels depending on the brightness outside. Therefore, users do not have to adjust brightness when going through a tunnel or driving in darkness. With automatic control, three different levels of brightness are available, and with manual mode, five levels are available.
Superior Visual Quality and Gentle-on-eyes high quality display
Ultra-bright VFD allows enough range of brightness. Blue-green color was selected to achieve superior visual quality and gentle-on-eyes display.
Built-in Ultra-bright Twin Display Unit
Ultra-bright LED reflective display unit is installed in green and red, which is led when programmable warning signal is on.
Special Installation Kit for Versatile installation
Mounting bracket can turn 360 degree, and clamp can be adjusted up to 40 degree, allowing easy installation on vehicles that were traditionally difficult to have such display unit in most visible spot.
Special Control Unit with Switch (D.C. Unit) Attachment
With sports/circuit driving in mind, display type can be changed with push-button switch.
Tachometer can be used on hybrid vehicle and “rev limiter ignition cut control vehicle ” (This is when Defi-Link VSD X is used alone or when it is linked with Defi-Link Control Unit II Version 2.0.)
Defi-Link System offers high flexibility in installing additional functions
If Defi-Link System is already in use, this product can be added to the existing system to achieve the maximum capacity in various functions. If Defi-Link System is not used, a user may start with the product alone, then install additional Defi-Link products later on.

Pop Demo function and engine rev can be displayed when a vehicle is in idle more than 10 seconds.

Special Display
One of three different displays can be selected to show when vehicle is in idle for more than 10 seconds.
- POP DEMO displays playful, pop movie on open screen space.
- ENGINE REV displays engine rev on the digital display.
- OFF does not change the display. If vehicle speed is on display already, it will stay with 0 km/h display.
Warm-up Display (Water temperature or oil temperature)
Water temperature or oil temperature is shown until it reaches programmed value.
Control Out Function
It sends out signals when water temperature or oil temperature reaches programmed value. Warning lamp or motor can be connected to activate the function when the programmed value is reached.
Peak Value Display
Peak value of connected units is displayed. With REC function, minimum value for vehicle speed can be displayed.
Built-in Port for Defi-Link Meter
Special control unit “D.C. Unit” has three built-in ports for Defi-Link meters. When used with Defi-Link System, one port can be for the system, and the other can be for Defi-Link meters.

Optional Parts
When used alone, there is not additional part that needs to be purchased. (In this case, the display is only for speed and engine rev.) When used with Defi-Link system, below parts need to be purchased separately.
1. If Defi-Link Control Unit II or Defi-Link Control Unit is already installed, there is not part that needs to be purchased. However, when installing gauges that require a sensor, sensor kit for the specific gauge is required.
If meters are already installed, the same sensor input as the control unit can be used for VSD X. Sensor / sensor harness that comes with the sensor kit is the same as sensor / sensor harness that comes with a meter.
2. If Defi-Link Control Unit II or Defi-Link Control Unit is not installed yet, a sensor kit is necessary for gauges for preferred gauges for Defi-Link Control Unit II.
Sensor kits can be purchased at Defi dealers.

The tip of thermostat for oil temperature gauge and water temperature gauge is 7mm. Please arrange parts accordingly.
